This workshop is designed to provide ideas for rolling out Restorative Practices to students and families. Deciding when to include students and families is a key question for implementation.
It is easy to just start with the school staff and then move onto students and families. Given the time challenges in schools, this may be the easiest path to take. But it may too easily become an initiative that is done “TO” students and families and not “WITH”.
As you will learn in this workshop, there are four levels of engagement:
Low: Informing (keep them informed)
Mid: Listening (get feedback)
High: Including (co-creating)
Exceptional: Empowering (true ownership)
From every day tools for classroom teachers to strategies for school and district-wide implementation teams, this workshop will teach you how to achieve dramatic results engaging students and families in Restorative Practices.
Participants will explore the following topics:
· The Authentic Engagement of Students & Families,
· Applying the Spectrum of Engagement to RP Benchmarks
· When & How to Introduce Students to Restorative Practices
· Engaging Students Through Curriculum Integration
· Peer RJ Program & RJ/Conflict Resolution Courses, and
· When & How to Introduce Parents to Restorative Practices.
There will be guest speakers and time for action planning at the end so each participant will walk away with the start of a plan for the school year. Attendees receive CEU credits, our training manual and continued consultation support.
